Tikitano · Estepona
We photographed Joaquín and Isabel's wedding at Tikitano, in Estepona.
Isabel got ready in a hotel suite full of friends, ring lights and make-up brushes. Her dress hung on the wardrobe mirror, silver and covered in sequins, with a turquoise chiffon cape. Next to it were emerald drop earrings and a bouquet in lilac, mauve and soft pink.
Her friends arrived in beaded dresses, each with a small bouquet tied with turquoise ribbon. When Isabel came out dressed, they lifted their flowers in the air on the balcony and toasted her with white wine.
At Tikitano a hand-painted sign on the lawn pointed the way to the ceremony. The garden runs down to the sea between palms, hedges and big cacti, and the chairs faced a wooden arch covered in lilac and white flowers with the water behind it.
Isabel walked down the aisle arm in arm with a young man in a blue shirt. Joaquín met her at the arch with a kiss on the cheek. The officiant wore a white suit, a friend gave a reading, and a little boy brought the rings up in a wooden box.
Joaquín kissed her hand once the ring was on. They both said a few words into the microphone, and at the end they walked back up the aisle laughing, with friends waving bouquets on both sides.
Afterwards we walked a little way along the garden with them for portraits by the sea. Then came drinks under the thatched roof of Tikitano, with red lights coming on among the palms as the evening fell.
