Hacienda San José · Mijas
The dress hung in the window of the bridal suite, next to a bouquet of yellow and white roses and a handwritten letter. Treasa started the day in a satin robe with a glass of cava, while across the house Declan, in a beige waistcoat, toasted with his friends in braces and blue bow ties among the bookshelves of the old library.
The colour of the day was a soft blue. It was in the ribbons on the white chairs, in the flower girl's dress and in every buttonhole. The ceremony was on the lawn, under a draped arch with the hacienda's bell tower behind, and there was more laughing than crying at the front.
They walked back up the aisle through petals and soap bubbles. Then came the group photo, with every guest lined up between the palms and the cypresses.
For the portraits we went from the ivy-covered cottages and an old wooden cart up to the white tower, where the arches frame the whole valley. If you get married here, ask us to take you up there. Back on the lawn, among the fan palms, the whole Sierra de Mijas stood behind them.
The speeches by the pool ended with everyone on their feet, arms in the air. At sunset we walked down a quiet road towards the hills. After dark came the cake under a curtain of fairy lights and a first dance in purple light. The two of them waved from a lit window above the courtyard and then danced in the smoke.
Blue ribbons, yellow roses and a white tower.
From the garden to the window bay, one long day in Mijas.
“Thank you to Diego and Marta for capturing every amazing moment. Looking back at the photos makes us smile so much.”
